About
A product of being born and raised in Vermont, Alison retains an immense admiration of nature, color, and organic forms. She grew up hiking and horse-crazed, and when not outdoors, spent countless hours practicing drawings of horses and humans.
While completing a BA in Fine Art from a small liberal arts college in Virginia, Alison had the opportunity to study in Florence, Italy, where access to influential art inspired her to further explore her own style of rendering of dark & light.
In 1998 Alison moved to Baltimore, Maryland, and married her husband, Dave. She joined the creative community by participating in local shows, selling her work, and holding leadership positions for Women Artists’ Forum, an art group of over 100 members, as well as working in a local art gallery.
Two kids and a couple dogs later, Alison continues to create pieces of her favorite subject: people, while continuing to study art at Zoll Art Studio in Timonium.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Producing art is a most pleasant time-warp. A whole morning or afternoon is easily consumed by the focus of creation and development of process. There is a combined sense of freedom and exhilaration when transforming an empty surface. To make something where nothing existed is utter satisfaction.
What I seek is for observers to respond to my art. I strive for the feeling of being drawn to a piece, when you simply want to keep looking. If my work inspires that, I’m happy.
